Outline: Upstairs is thrilled to be a venue for Breakout West 2026. We are excited to be hosting the following artists (performance schedule above). Passes to Breakout West will include entry to these incredible shows at Upstairs as well as a number of other events across town from.
Blue Beach Band: Hailing from Small-Town Southeast Saskatchewan, Blu Beach Band is an Indie-Rock group that has made a big name for themselves within the Canadian Music Scene in a short amount of time, through their unique blend of 70’s “Yacht-Rock” and indie-pop, as well as a relentless gig schedule and foolhardy personalities. Despite this goofy, laidback onstage persona, these small-town, childhood best friends are working harder at their craft than they care to admit.
In the past 2 years, Blu Beach Band has released 2 full-length LP’s. Their latest, titled “No Guff” has garnered over 300,000 streams, and nearly half a million views on Youtube through their homemade, budget-friendly music videos. During this time, they have also played a healthy amount of music festivals, (including NXNE, Gateway, Ness Creek, Sask Jazz and more) toured across Canada, and made it onto countless radio stations and music blogs.
It is apparent through their continuously growing crowds and online fanbase, that the band has a knack for crafting singable indie-rock anthems as well as putting on a heck of a live show. Showing no signs of slowing down, Blu Beach Band is a Canadian-grown, force to be reckoned with.
Neighbour Andy: Middle province’s Neighbour Andy has spent the last few years building a reputation not only as a band, but as a genuine hot ticket renowned for fusing a rare down-to-earth authenticity with a charismatic stage presence and genre-skipping sound.
The five-piece — comprised of childhood friends Drake Lesperance (vocals), Mark Davidson (guitar), MacKenzie Jackson (bass), Jordan Alexiuk (drums), and Joel d’Eschambault (keys) — merge rhythmic alt-rock with the narrative spirit of Americana, folk, and funk, landing somewhere that feels necessary. The band’s relatable songwriting captures the inconvenient rites of passage for a twentysomething today: financial anxiety, smoke and mirrors of internet crushes, self-sabotage, mental health, and the pursuit of acceptance all the while remembering the profound value of true friendship.
Following the traction of their 2022 self-titled EP, Neighbour Andy proved their drawing power by selling out the 500-cap album release show for their 2023 album debut, Wild One, in just eight minutes. Their inaugural album rollout saw the band tour across Canada, feature in festivals like NXNE, headline at Festival du Voyageur, Real Love and more. Now, with millions of streams under their belts and their latest single “Niagara St.” hinting at new music, Neighbour Andy is poised to become a national name in 2026.
Alexandria Maillot: Breathing new life into the Canadian music landscape, Vancouver artist, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Alexandria Maillot, takes listeners on a journey through lava-lamp-lit bedrooms and rain-soaked roads with a sound that is both nostalgic yet refreshing – a favourite transistor radio playing classic vibes with a contemporary twist.
With gritted, nuanced vocals reminiscent of a blend between Yebba and Stevie Knicks, nostalgic narratives paired with the electro-pop playfulness of Alanis Morissette circa Jagged Little Pill, Maillot has been steadily gaining momentum in a post-genre era. An active artist since the age of seven, Maillot has amassed an impressive list of accomplishments in the decades that followed. Early accolades included performing alongside Jann Arden and David Foster at the Royal Ontario Museum, appearing on the Oprah Winfrey’s “World’s Smartest and Most Talented Kids” program, being hired as a demo vocalist for Randy Bachman, and having a song “Revolution” featured on Swiss artist Stefanie Heinzmann’s album Masterplan- all before the age of 14.
More recently, Alexandria debuted three singles off of Benevolence for CBC Q’s Thursday Headliner series with Tom Power, was featured on SiriusXM’s “The Verge” feature, placed numerous songs in TV/film (My Life With the Walter Boys, Wynonna Earp, Animal Control), and toured extensively throughout North America and the EU, including performances at Reeperbahn Festival, Rifflandia, Riverfest Elora, Halifax Pop Explosion, Dawson City Music Festival, Make Music Pasadena, and many more.
Cold Fame: Cold Fame is an alternative pop-rock duo from BC, Canada, led by vocalist Jodi Pederson and guitarist Damian Anthony. Blending the energy and drive of alternative rock with electronic and pop influences, the band has crafted a unique and emotionally charged sound, inspired by classic horror tropes and suppressed feminine rage.
Damian, a skilled multi-instrumentalist and self-taught producer, brings his creative approach to songwriting and sound design, while Jodi’s powerful, haunting and anthemic vocals and lyricism adds a unique edge. Their dynamic partnership fuelled the band’s evolution, culminating in the release of their debut album, RED ROOM, in fall 2024.
The album’s breakout single “Hello Reaper” gained strong traction on Canadian radio, spending several months on the Top 40 and peaking at #29. Their follow-up, “Jawbreaker”, climbed even higher, reaching #13 and holding a spot in the Top 20 on the Canadian Alternative charts for several weeks and remains in the Top 40. “Jawbreaker” also marks the first release from their forthcoming sophomore album Love, Lust & Violence, set for 2026.
Their high energy live performances have landed them multiple festivals alongside artists like Gwen Stefani, Fleet Foxes, Cold War Kids, Peach Pit, Royal Blood and more. This success has begun to cement Cold Fame’s reputation as one of Canada’s most exciting energetic pop-rock acts, while building anticipation for their 2026 release of Love, Lust & Violence, which will usher in a bold new era for the band.
Tomi Lumiere: Tomi Lumiere is a fully independent artist redefining the future of Canadian music. In 2025, he earned a nomination for Rap & Hip-Hop Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, solidifying him as one of the country’s most promising new voices. Blending unique melodies with cinematic storytelling, his music captures ambition, and growth. This journey includes writing, and releasing his work without label backing, yet achieving over 1,000,000 lifetime streams, including 761,100 on his debut album G.R.A.D.
In 2025 alone, Tomi surpassed 906,000 streams, reached 13.4 thousand TikTok followers, and generated over one million views across social media. His audience expanded globally through media interviews in Nigeria (Silverbird TV and Rhythm FM Radio). Additionally, he’s received radio play across Canada, Nigeria, and Germany, further showcasing his international reach.
A captivating performer, Tomi recently opened for NorthSideBenji and shared stages with Partynextdoor and Ty Dolla $ign at Calgary’s Cowboys Music Festival. Known for sold-out independent shows in Edmonton, Calgary, and Toronto, he’s become a powerful voice for independent artistry in Canada.
John from Dawson: John from Dawson is Hip-hop artist from Dawson City, Yukon on the Traditional Territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in. With music that has been described as a mix of Mac Miller and the Bloodhound Gang, JFD uses emotional inner thoughts to create catchy hooks that keep crowds energized and engaged. JFD channels his emotions and life experiences through his music, creating Hip-hop that expresses his positive outlook on life and aims to uplift and inspire the youth of the Yukon and beyond. Having opened for recognized Canadian Hip-hop artists such as Haviah Mighty, Super Duty Tough Work, Shad, and Snotty Nose Rez Kids, JFD is known for creating genuine connections with audiences making all his performances unforgettable. After attending the Canadian Music Incubator’s Artist Entrepreneur West Program and performing at festivals such as The Great Escape Brighton UK, Dawson City Music Festival, Keno Festival, Edmonton Fringe Festival and Break Out West, JFD set his sights on touring within Canada and Europe.
Entry Requirements: All patrons must be 19 years of age or older with two pieces of valid ID (one of which must be government issued with a photograph). We do not allow gang or fight related apparel. We are members of the BarWatch program, so entry may be denied due to previous incidents at our or other participating venues.
